In partnership with Visa and Surfers Against Sewage we created a high impact music festival activation to drive brand awareness and engagement. The objective was to promote the use of reusable water bottles on festival sites and generate revenue for the Surfers Against Sewage campaign. This clever brand activation used smart vending machines to create memorable and interactive experiences for festival-goers, because experiential marketing is where it’s at.
Engagement and Rewards
Festival-goers were encouraged to buy reusable water bottles for £2 each, with all proceeds going to Surfers Against Sewage. The campaign had a twist: buy a bottle and you could win a gold bottle and a VIP festival experience for two. This gamification element increased participation and proved experiential marketing works.
This shows the limitations of traditional marketing and the rise of experiential marketing in creating brand connections. By using smart vending machines with contactless payment (Apple Pay and Chip) we made the transaction seamless, which helped the campaign overall. This is a great example of how brands can use technology and experiential to achieve revenue and social impact.
